‘Flats 2013′ is our new concept for our peoples choice exhibitions. It works well with the ‘Smalls’ and ‘Talls’ exhibitions which have been a great success and have been going now for 8 years. So we think the ‘Flats’ will be similarly popular for both the artists and collectors. The exhibition will open on the 1st of June at 6.30pm. We have another very special exhibition opening on the same night by Bev Doherty and Kerri Kerley called ‘Simply Us’.
The ‘Smalls 2013′ peoples choice exhibition is one of our most popular annual exhibitions. We ask artists to paint on a 10X10 canvas anything that they chose. The results are amazing! With over 60 artists participating and with over 150 artworks on display, the gallery walls come to life with a mosaic of paintings , identical in size, showing the uniqueness of each persons process of creativity. The peoples choice prize is decided by the painting with the most votes by people coming to see the exhibition. So bring along some friends and family and have a great time deciding the best works. You’ll be amazed. People’s taste in art is almost as diverse as the artworks themselves. Usually the votes are really close between a large number of works. So your vote can really count. Besides the fun of voting, it is a beautiful exhibition and the atmosphere at the gallery is lots of fun. A great night out in Canowindra.
Exhibition Name: ‘Marray Ngarra’ ( Remembering the Dreaming.)
My culture only survives through our beliefs in creation. Our stories of the dreamtime refer to the creation of our existence and how all things came to be. It acknowledges our Creator Bayami and other spirit beings.
The connection of us to land and us to spirit is the same. We are all a part of each other. The survival of all living things relies on our respect for our culture.
In Culture we are ONE.
Through this exhibition I would like to share with you my respect for my Culture.
